Peter Anderson and Caroline Hogan etched their names into perpetuity winning the Cant Cup last weekend.
The Cant Cup, first presented in 1920, is a boarded mixed-foursomes medal competition and their partnership did the competition proud with a nett score of 64 from a 21 handicap.
Collecting seven pars and two birdies they were able to lead in the rest of the field by four clear shots. Judith and Roger Robertson (19) returned 68 to take second spot on their own from Dan Connolly and Caroline Slagle (24) who returned a 69.
Jasmine Schwier (25) won the Ladies Bogey Final Cup with a cracking 41 points. She headed the list of qualifiers with Philippa Davies (36) leading the chasing pack with 40 points. Katie Cooper two points back on 37 took third place on her own.
Last Sunday was the final event of the Junior Sixes. Colchester won their group. In a competition played by Juniors to enable them, prior to earning a handicap, to dip their toes into competitive golf. It is organized by The Golf Foundation and is played in local groups to encourage youngsters into golf.
During the year as many as possible are encouraged to play and this year Ben Leppard, Eddie Leppard, Ben Watchorn, Darcy Clare, Freddy Peach, George Withnall, Josh Godwin, Oscar Godwin. Sam Williams and Zach Elliott all took part.

Colchester's Ed Mason was at Woodhall Spa to represent the County in the Boys Champion of Champions on Saturday. Played over 36 holes on the Hotchkin Course.
Starting poorly, he never recovered and ended his first round six over par with the leader on 7 under, his chance of winning gone. Although recovering in the afternoon he ended up with a credible top twenty finish on a tough course.
Sunday saw Mason along with the teammates at Crondon Park for the Final of the County Scratch Youth Shield against Romford.

Mason Barningham, although four down at one stage, fought back to level against Edward Linley on the 18th. On news of Rufus Cock's loss in the fifth match the tie was over, and they shook hands. Rufus Cock played a very credible game given that he was 12 shots off his opponents handicap.
