Tee sheets for every competition in the Festival of Golf are now on the main noticeboard for sign up. These are a serious of fun events running from 4th to 12th August with a different format every day and great prizes. Entry fees to be paid at registration in the clubhouse on each day by credit/debit card.
As requested by members, a balance of £20.00 or more on your professional shop account from competition winnings can now go onto members' cards for use in the clubhouse. Please submit a request to the professional shop for monies to be transferred.
The club is seeking quotations for a drone flyover of each hole on the course. If members know of anyone who can quote for this work, please ask them to contact the office.

Please repair any pitchmarks and divots that you see, take a divot bag out with you and use the divot boxes on the driving range. Please remind your fellow members too.
The majority of ditches have been trimmed, maintained and cleared on the course.
We have inspected for nesting birds and trimmed hedgerows on the 8th, 11th, 18th holes.
Paths have been weeded on the 3rd, 11th, 13th, and 16th holes
Tees have been divotted on the course and driving range
Isolated turf repairs to damaged turf on the 5th & 6th greens. Greens have had a Soil surfactant, organic bio-stimulant and fungicide application

Fresh bread and rolls are now being delivered daily from a local bakery.

A hot cupboard has been purchased to enable a selection of hot snacks i.e. pasties and sausage rolls to be available in the evenings. Please look out for them on the bar.
The Thornton Challenge Cup Team beat Canons Brook to move into the last eight of the County's scratch team knockout competition.
They got off to a strong start in the morning foursomes going ahead 3½ matches to 1½.
The strength of Colchester quickly became apparent in the afternoon singles.
Josh Coleman got the ball rolling with a win over Joe Neve 4&2. Mason Barningham caught a tough one going down on the last to Colin Ledwith. The next six matches went Colchester's way with Ed Mason, Alex Rowe, Theo Baker, Olly Allison, Steve Jennings and Alan Sharrocks all winning. Allison tucking his match away 9&7.
The final score, in Colchester's favour, was eleven matches to four.
The Harris Bowl team had a good win against Benton Hall winning by three matches to two with wins by Alison Clare, Shelley Persent and Sue Patrick.
Whilst the men's Norman Plum team lost out to Burnham-on-Crouch after a countback on holes won after the scores were tied at the end of the home and away legs.
Continuing the match theme at the Club was an international match held between the Home Nations.
The winners were Scotland with 413 points followed by Ireland on 398 with England on 390 and finally Wales with 371.
Maureen Devenish, playing off 18, won the Charles Bland Cup. Her nett 69 was built on a strong front nine of just four over par. Never losing it on the back nine and adding a birdie on the 13th to one on the 3rd, she carried the day by just one shot from Bridget Whitworth (20) who had a 70
Running concurrently was the Long Handicap Cup which was won by Bee Pertwee (25) with a 69 nett. Second place was shared by Carol Irvine (29) and Marilyn Free (31), both returning nett 72s.
The Jubilee Cup team has reached the last 16 of the competition and will at home tomorrow to Theydon Bois teeing off from 12.00pm, all support is welcome.
This 36 hole strokeplay event is drawn in handicap order and is played from the white permanent markers. First played in 1937 to commemorate the coronation of King George VI, it is open to men and junior boys with a maximum playing handicap of 22 for men and 18 for boys. Sign up is now open!
This stableford competition is open to men and ladies. Players will be drawn alongside one of the final round players in the Open Championship. Their score will be converted to Stableford and combined with the members score. Played from the yellow and red tees. The maximum playing handicap is 24 for men and 36 for ladies. Sign up opens on 25th June.

The Hospice Cup has a maximum Playing Handicap for men of 18 and 20 for ladies. The St Helena Bowl has a minimum playing handicap for men of 19 and a maximum playing handicap of 28. For ladies it is a minimum playing handicap of 21 and maximum playing handicap of 36. Played from the white and red tees, sign up opens on 25th June. All entry fee proceeds go to St Helena Hospice.
The Club Championship will be played over 36 holes and over two days from the white permanent markers. The first round is 18 holes on Saturday, open to all male members and juniors, with the playing order being drawn in handicap order. The nett prize will be awarded on this day and there will be a barbecue after play which everyone is invited to attend. The lowest 51 gross scores will then go into the second round to be played on Sunday 6th in 3 balls off the 1st and 11th tees. Sign up opens on 2nd July.
This is an individual drawn Stableford competition open to men, ladies and juniors. This competition was first played in 1955 and the trophy donated by a member, Howard F Bullock, to commemorate the anniversary of victory over Japan. It is played on the closest Sunday to VJ Day every year. The maximum playing handicap for men is 22 and for ladies it is 28. Played from the white and red permanent markers. Sign up opens on 10th July.
