Following a period of strong wind last weekend, encouraging efforts were made to prepare the course for play from considerable levels of leaves and debris on Monday.
This was followed up with some favourable conditions on Tuesday where we were able to fully rake bunkers, change holes and mow multiple surfaces during the day.
Wednesday brought with it 29mm of rain which initially led to some surface saturation and standing water. An early morning assessment quickly identified that the course had, and would, handle the conditions extremely well. The only areas of concern were the known wet area on the 2nd hole which is now marked as an NPZ, and the bunkers which understandably did not deal with the conditions as well.
Following the rainfall efforts have been focused on ditch clearing and inlet/outlet maintenance, and traffic management and rerouting of areas that may become vulnerable as the soil moisture levels increase.
We have continued to manually pump water from the 2nd pond in an effort to reduce the surrounding water table, and keep the 3rd tee path clear for trolly and carry traffic access.
Please enjoy your golf
Kind regards
James Rattenbury

After the ravages of Storm Bert, it was left to the Annual Swindlers Christmas Stableford to do real damage to the course.
Playing on Monday in near perfect golfing weather the winner, Mike Carroll, certainly did do damage. Scoring 45 points Carroll, playing off 15 was so far ahead of the 43 strong field they only caught up with him in the clubhouse afterwards. Wisely, he left early.
After a double bogey on the third he birdied the 7th to make the turn two over par. He then tucked in two more birdies and bogeyed home from the 15th to return the best round of the day six points clear.
Following in his wake in the overall competition Stephen Moore (14) and Jeff Waterson (20) taking second and third on countback both returning commendable thirty-nines.
Countback separated fourth and fifth place with Paul Jackson (10) getting the nod over John Dornan (9) both scoring thirty-eight points.
The winners of the handicapped divisions were Jeff Waterson in the 18 plus with the runner-up being Roy Darby.
In the 15 to 17 Group it was Josh Rogers with Jim Wilkinson runner-up and in the under 14 handicap group it was Paul Jackson and John Dornan both with 38 points.
Nearest the pin prizes went to Alan Beasley, Peter Anderson, Barry Haley and Iain Cruickshank.
It was Alan Beasley’s first year running this event, and he made particular reference to the excellent lunchtime carvery. Congratulations and thanks were given to Beasley in the speeches after lunch.
