Colchester Golf Club

Veterans Section

Our Club maintains a well established, very active and integrated golfing section specifically for the benefit and enjoyment of those senior male members that have attained 60 years of age.

The section organised by a committee provides an annual programme of competitive and social golf always held on weekdays, together with other associated events. Throughout the Summer months 28 ‘Friendly’ matches are played against other seniors/veterans of clubs ranging geographically from Burnham-on Crouch to Stowmarket in Suffolk. These matches comprise eight groups of pairs playing, with handicap allowances, in a Four Ball Better Ball format and gives participants the opportunity of playing both at ‘home’ and ‘away’ at some of the finest courses in north Essex and Suffolk. Each match is followed by a convivial two course meal and drinks.

Additionally, each year there are eight Monthly Stablefords, singles’ and pairs’ knockout competitions, a Guest Day (where one can invite a senior colleague from another club), and two major well supported competitions towards the end of the Season all with generous, either ProShop credit or a range of other prizes. Annually our Section enters a team into two Inter Club Seniors/Veterans Trophy tournaments with competitor teams from mid Essex and south Suffolk.

Details of the Vet's golfing programme can be found on the Club's website News/Dairy/Monthly Lists and further information is available in Members' Area/Information/CGC Veterans Section. All other enquiries should be made to the Vets' Captain Roy Darby or the undersigned.
