Our Club maintains a well established, very active and integrated golfing Section specifically for the benefit and enjoyment of those senior male Members that have attained 60 years of age.
The Section organised by a Committee provides an annual programme of competitive and social golf always held on weekdays, together with other associated events. Throughout the Summer months 28 ‘Friendly’ matches are played against other Seniors/Veterans of Clubs ranging geographically from Burnham-on Crouch to Stowmarket in Suffolk. These matches comprise eight groups of pairs playing, with handicap allowances, in a Four Ball Better Ball format and gives participants the opportunity of playing both at ‘home’ and ‘away’ at some of the finest courses in north Essex and Suffolk. Each match is followed by a convivial two course meal and drinks.
Additionally, each year there are eight Monthly Stablefords, singles’ and pairs’ knockout competitions, a Guest Day (where one can invite a senior colleague from another Club), and two major well supported competitions towards the end of the Season all with generous, either ProShop credit or a range of other prizes. Our Section enters a team in two tournaments each year, viz The Greene King Trophy, and The InterClub.
Entry information regarding these activities are displayed on the Veterans’ Notice Board in the Gent’s Cloak Room, and further information can be obtained from Clive Kerr, Veterans’ Captain or from:
